UCLA Luckman

Elizabeth,
when I came to The Center, I couldn’t even talk to a man because I
was so frightened and shy. There is no way I could thank you for all
you have done for me. I am writing now to invite you to my wedding!
Thanks again for everything. R.T. |
| Before we came to
The Center, my wife and I were unable to talk or listen to each other. Our
marriage was really in trouble. But with the help of Elizabeth and Dr.
Rabow, we have learned to communicate in healthy ways and have improved
our relationship dramatically. This has also helped in our relationship
with our children. Thank you both for everything you have given our
family. M.W. |

As a person of
color, I have always felt like I had different battles to fight than
others. Working with Dr. Rabow has given me new insight and an
appreciation of what I felt were only my battles. Now I see that some of
these things are my own strengths and I love knowing how to use them in my
daily life. With much gratitude, D.P. |
| Being older, I
thought it was too late to really have intimacy in my life. I had
practically given up on the idea, but I thought it was worth one more try.
The Center has shown me that age has nothing to do with it! Thank you for
showing me my way to a much richer senior life. R. W. |

We had just about
given up ever being able to get along as sisters, and never thought it
would also be possible to be friends. All of our own friends gave us
advice and shared their knowledge with us, but none of it really helped.
Both of us decided to try therapy as a way of getting help that wasn't
someone else's best advice, but help where we learned that we were able to
come up with our own "advice" that was truly best for us. Thank
you for teaching us to trust ourselves and each other again. G.T. and
F.T. |
| When I decided to
come to the Center, I believed that I was going to be alone forever. I did
not know how to share my thoughts and desires with anyone because I felt
like it was a risk too large to take. I didn't want to put myself in
position where I could be really hurt. After working at the Center, I now
know the difference between what is really my strength and what is
actually a vulnerability. I am no longer afraid of being hurt because I
know how to take care of myself and have learned to trust myself. With
that in hand, I truly believe that I will not have to be alone any more.
Thank you for that great gift of freedom to choose what I want in life! M.G. |

Sometimes I think
about how hard everything used to be, and it is difficult to imagine that
this was the way I was living my entire adult life. Today, after working
with Elizabeth at the Center, I feel great about the things that I see are
available to me. I now have the life that I choose to create. W.D. |
